Natural drying - judging from the amount of clothing outside windows, not many people in rural (or even urban) Italy own clothes drying machines. I kind of like it, gives it a more homey feel! :)

I grew up with sun-dried laundry and so miss that fresh-air smell. No amount of perfumed rinse-aid or softener sheets in the drier get close! (Electricity may be costly making driers power-guzzling mode of operation very 'wasteful' - thrift being still seen as a virtue in most rural areas)
