The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

Thursday, June 15

Another gorgeous ceiling - this should give you some idea of the floorplan too, as the ceiling is basically the size and shape of the entire church (with side altars coming out all around). The main altar is not at the "top" of the ellipse, but is rather, as you can see on the left, on the long side, making for a very "short" nave.

Did you know, Mary, that this is the first Baroque style church? Thank you, Baciarlini!
