The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

We get settled in St. Peter's, with pretty good seats, and then BOOM. It's real dark! In case you can't figure this out, it is facing the papal altar, with the dome windows above, and in the lower right you can just make out the lights around the statue of Peter. It was simply amazing to see, as the only lights were from the little statue niches scattered around the basilica, and from the narthex area behind us. Among tens of thousands of people, plunged into echoing darkness in the biggest church on earth - wow.
