Suddenly, some lights came on and we saw the Easter candle being placed in its stand, and the Holy Father standing before us with his own candle. At first I thought the crowd was going to cheer or something, but it was just a pregnant pause and then the moment passed in silence, with the start of the beautiful singing of the Exultet like I've never heard it before!!
