The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

Tuesday, April 18

San Lorenzo is the "deacons' church", with the tombs of both St. Stephen (proto-martyr and deacon) and St. Lawrence the most venerated deacon in Rome. (St. Justin Martyr is buried here too, by the way). Here, in the crypt under the high altar, Fr. Adam offered prayers and a blessing for those NAC seminarians who are going to be ordained deacons in the coming year, they are kneeling around the tomb. Behind them are some of the current deaconate class. It was beautiful.
