The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

Sunday, April 30

It is tradition here in Rome that on the feast of St. Catherine, the city (or is it the state?) presents flowers and a chalice immediately before Mass, which are placed before the tomb. I was surprised that they don't actually bless and use the chalice at the Mass though - it was placed up on the high altar and left there, does anyone know what they do with it? Do they present a new one every year?
