Feast of St. Catherine of Siena

"Lord, take me from myself and give me to Yourself." ~St. Catherine of Siena (+1380)

Happy feast day everyone! Today, April 29, the universal Church celebrates the life and witness of St. Catherine of Siena in a special way. Being in Rome, I am blessed to be able to go directly to the tomb of St. Catherine, at Santa Maria sopra Minerva (near the Pantheon) to pray for her intercession and give thanks to God for giving us St. Catherine as a witness to the faith and an example of how we too are called to communicate the Gospel to the world fearlessly within a life of prayer centered on God, who is Love.

I have prayed for all of you today there, at her tomb, that you will all be blessed abundantly by the Lord, and brought to deeper conversion to Christ on this day, sanctified by the Lord and by your cooperation with the work He has begun in you and the intercession of this great saint and Doctor of the Church!
