The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

Tuesday, April 18

The Chrism Mass ended about midday, and then the sprint began to get to St. John Lateran for the Mass of the Lord's Supper, the hottest papal Holy Week ticket in town, at 5:00pm! (Because the Lateran is smaller there were a very limited number of tickets available, only about 8 or 9 of us from the house were able to go actually.)

Here is Chase - first in line! LOL! Unfortunately, Italy being Italy, after we had waited for a good two hours and tons of people had gotten in line behind us, the darn cops shooed us all out of the piazza and made us reform a line outside (thereby causing us to loose our prized spot in line...shoot.). This corralling made the mad-dash rush into the basilica when they opened the gates only that more interesting. Someday, when I have recovered, I may tell you about it...
