The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

In the back of the church, along the side walls, are two depictions of large buildings. One is of the New golden Jerusalem, the other side shows the earthly palace of the Arian emperor Theodoric. In this mosaic, the orthodox were busy removing a lot - they replaced the figures of the Arians with curtains!! But, they didn't bother to redo the pillars - so you can still see the hands of some of the former figures who "lived" there! Crazy... but neat!
