Another view from the other side of the Forums. The large plain building was once the Roman Senate, believe it or not. Then it was converted to a church (and a baroque facade was added like the one on the building next to it), but in the early 20th century the Italian state took off the facade and tried to restore the building to be a museum. It wasn't open when we were there, but I would like to go back one of these days and see what the Senate looked like, the precursor to our modern US Senate and House.
