The apse mosaic of Santa Pudenziana - amazing, because it is one of the oldest in Rome, dating back to the 4th century (yes, that would be in the 300s, not long after Constantine himself was emperor!) and it is done in a Romanesque style, not an Eastern style like most ancient mosaics still preserved in churches. Unfortunately, a "renovation" project in the 16th century kind of destroyed part of the mosaic... sad.
