The Roamin' Roman

Benvenuto! You have happened upon the blog of a wandering Catholic American college student studying for a year in Rome, the Eternal City. You will find here my pontifications, ruminations, reflections, images, and ponderings on my life in Rome. Ciao!

The Basilica of St. Clement, the fourth pope after St. Peter. The Rossi sisters brought us here yesterday for their class, not only because of it's Christian signifiance, but also because the building itself is remarkable. It is composed of an upper church built in the 1100s, a lower church built in the 4th century AD, and beneath that an old Roman home (and Mithric temple next door) from the 1st century AD, the home is considered to be that of St. Clement himself, or at least the house church he used to worship in.
